Aragon

The most notable dance of Aragon is the Jota:

The jota is a traditional Spanish dance and song that was particularly significant in regions such as Aragon during the 18th and 19th centuries. It is performed with instruments such as the bandurria, the lute, the guitar, the dulzaina, and the drum, as well as castanets.

It is characterized by its fast rhythm, with jumps, turns, and energetic steps. Its style blends diverse musical influences, such as Jewish, Moorish, Gypsy, and Castilian, among others.

Dancers wear regional costumes: full skirts and lace blouses for women, and traditional attire for men.

The shoes typically have leather or rubber soles and a 5- to 7-centimeter heel to facilitate dancing.

Notable accessories include the handkerchief and castanets, which lend identity and rhythm to the dance
